The Orpheus Choir is having a cocktail and dinner reception on March 21 to commemorate 50 years on music making in Toronto and TGG will be in attendance to celebrate this milestone. The choir was founded by John and Mary Sidgwick, and sponsored in part by The Goalgetters, primarily through The Sidgwick Scholars program which was created in 1988 to support emerging vocal artists and their participation within the Orpheus Choir.
This mutually beneficial relationship provides Scholars with the opportunity to learn about the rigours and discipline of ensemble singing while honing their performance experience and profile as soloists in the Toronto music scene.
Since its inception, more than 40 talented young singers have performed with Orpheus, many of whom moving on to illustrious careers on the concert stage and in the opera house, both in Canada and internationally.
